Oli Freke follows his 2021 book, Synthesizer Evolution: From Analogue to Digital (and Back), with a series of zines.
The last 25 years have seen a revival. This revival is modular. While musicians were once tied to their digital audio workstations (DAWs), they are now free once again to wire, patch and modulate in the real world, with a mind-boggling array of options to choose from.
"Modular Greats" celebrates the fusion of art, logic, science and serendipity in modular synthesis, showcasing some of the most popular, creative and influential modules of the 21^(st) century. Featured manufacturers include Make Noise, Mutable Instruments, TipTop Audio, Intellijel, Rossum Electro-Music and Doepfer, among many others.
The 52 page book is 10,5 cm x 14.8 cm in size and printed black and white and bound (fastened with a spine).
